As someone whose worked and lived among such poverty I can certainly say to the "Not funny" people. . . SHADDAAAAAAAAP!!!
<soapbox>If someone finds it funny so be it - for all you know, the kid finds it funny too. You'd be surprised at how resilient the human spirit is. I wouldn`t call "misery" unless he was walking in a garbage heap or engaged in some forced labour.
For all you know, he just tore his swimsuit and got creative. He and his friends don`t look sick or starving and the others have bathing suits and jeans, So I`m going with the torn-suit theory. A third option is that that`s my cousin a few years back and he`s just being his usual weird and goofy self.</soapbox>
Personally, I find it inspirational. Weird and WTF, but inspirational.
