Wednesday, September 16, 2009 11:18:41 PM almightybob1 "Clearly, OldOllie, you haven't seen V for Vendetta."Actually, I just got it on DVR last night. I'll probably watch it this weekend. I did watch that clip you posted, and all I can say is that those idiots had obviously never been in a sword fight OR a gunfight. If you're stupid enough to get within range of a sword, you pretty give up any advantage you ever had with your gun. At least one of them should have stayed out of his reach. Better yet, they could have -- should have -- just shot him from 10' (3m) away. They could easily have killed, maimed, crippled, or temporarily disabled him. All things considered, I'd still rather have a gun in a sword fight than a sword in a gunfight. |

Wednesday, September 16, 2009 11:03:15 PM "I think there should be a line. For instance, if someone burgled someones house and the occupier tied the burglar to a chair and tortured him for 2 weeks before decapitating him i would say he crossed a line. I think a home owner should be given the benefit of the doubt with regards to measures taken in self defense. I would with out question be prepared to stab someone (in the eyes) to render them incapable of attacking me, but i wouldnt finish them off, because there should be no need if youve disabled them sufficiently."i don't know about you, but i sure as hell won't be worrying about their safety as they try to break in and do who knows what. I'm trying to disable them as quickly as possible, if that means killing them, then so be it. I'm not going to waste time being "gentle" |

Wednesday, September 16, 2009 6:09:22 AM I actually have a past experience similar to this. When I was up in the Blue Ridge Valley with my grandfather for the week, I brought my favorite thing me: a decorative shortsword. It's about 18 inches long and has a couple of dragon engravings on it. When a raccoon snuck into the house and raided the fridge, I slashed at it and delt a couple of nasty blows. It managed to run away and decided to leave us alone the rest of the week. I was forced to clen up the blood, however. |

Wednesday, September 16, 2009 5:43:11 AM " What if you were robbed by a 50 hobos who had nothing but sticks, and all you had to defend yourself was a suit of armor and an iron mace. Would you then have the right to butcher 50 people in the most horrible way, all in the name of self-defense?"yes. If I feel threatened by them and they have the intent to kill me then yes. I have the right to go medievel on their ass.
