What this leaves out is that most of these kids haven't left their homes for five years and their mothers have to bring them food on a tray and leave it outside their door.  |

Let put the amount of Manga in perspective ... some stories have like 10 - 20 volumes ... so if you enjoy 15 different stories that's like 150 - 300 books ... it does not take long to add up |

Otaku does not mean "anime loving person not from Japan," it means extreme nerd who, usually, is very socially awkward. And being too obsessed with anything is really bad, be it anime or football or whatever. The thing is, foreigners who are obsessed with anime and all those things that aren't of their culture usually are because they are obsessed with Japan in general. And these people are almost always the creepy "Japanophiles," so it's no wonder why anime obsession has a bad rap. Not saying that's who you are, but if you aren't you are the minority.@ gorgack

I would just like to say without being a non-nice individual or jackass that there is nothing wrong with being obsessed with anime, manga or even hentai. Im not targeting individuals here but saying that being obsessed over these things is so bad would be like saying the people who are obsessed with football are crazy If you were to come over to australia you'd see how many people love there footy its the same thing with anime in Japan. Last of all if you have ever, ever put a piece of memrobelia for any sport or team or faction yet still insult other peoples love for there own passion ie. Anime then you are one of these selfish insignificant individuals that are to narrow minded to open there minds to other culture. |

Most of the (obviously) girl rooms are so overwhelmed with anime it's a bit creepy. Now I'll take either the one with all the screens (though I don't know how I'd survive trying to watch them all) or the one with the chair console - that's kinda cool. |

seeing as though an average manga is 600-700 yen, the buying 9-10 at a time is relatively cheap, compared to us.they may have hundreds of manga that would equate to us about 15-20 games for various consioles, ammassed over the years. its just coz they buy quantity that they look sad. im sure if they digitized manga in teh future, all we'd see in these peeps houses is 2-3 ext harddrives |

well i see a repeating theme.... manga lol. but seriously their culture is so centered on tech that its rediculous. same problem in korea. people die from being hardwired so long that they neglect food and the necessities. notice the one pic of the energy drinks? its cause on their "down time" they spend it online, mmorpgs, manga, anime or porn. seriously they dont get much down time either cause of how competitive school is. they are machines. my cus has to study about 12 hours a day outside of school for college exams. everything is private so getting in is a BIG deal. jr high and up is a challenge and some kids need to escape, ie tech. school is crazy long too and 6 days a week. makes me feel inferior for all the times im too lazy. |
