I just love how so many people site the "lazy" people who don't have health insurance of their own. Because, you know, every single company in America offers it. And they all offer it at affordable rates that don't make you choose between health care and paying your rent. Damn lazy people. How dare you work 60+ hour work weeks just to pay your bills and then ask for a little help when you get sick, too? Walk it off!

@Center706

first of all it's just a freaking internet name. Get over it. Second it's not some "goth making typical anti-american statements" and since when do anti american statements and goth even go together?

I simply hate the fact that this country is completely backward from everywhere else in the world and yet we say we are the best? We give thousands of dollars to our military in taxes to kill innocent people but a single working mother that needs some government help can't have health insurance? Are you freaking kidding me?

We are supposed to be a "land under god" but i see no one helping anybody. all we are is power hungry and money hungry but we make believe pretty well that we care.

And for your information if someone dropped at couple hundred thousands dollars in my pocket right now i would get the hell out of this country because it is falling apart fast.

Take any stab at me you want to but i don't care. I am not a proud american. Get the f*ck

A bit late in the discussion, but here's something for you to think about, in your intelligence-relieved little happy placee of complaining and whining: Sure, you'd be contributing to paying other people's health bills too. But remember that they, complete strangers, who you have never met in your entire life, and never will in most cases, are paying for YOUR health bill. And when you end up broke, and slip and break a leg, you'll be happy you're not on your own. I dunno about you, but I don't plan my injuries, they can very well happen when I do not have the money to pay for it all. I suspect you are in the same situation.

You see, waiting to institute a new welfare system until we can pay off some of our debt would make sense, but it's distinctly un-American. So is ignoring a problem until we feel we can throw money at it and all will be well.

OK, so that might've been a generalization of the American population, but you get the idea.

Poepl of America: You will not turn into Commies or Socialists by just accepting Obamacare. Sure, it moves you farther towards it, but you guys still have miles and miles to go, so rest easy. Geez.

Old Ollie.
That $100 million is not from that at all. 3.5 million is.
Most of that goes to his client.

Healthcare would be nice.
My dad doesn't get health insurance, and whenever I get sick (which is a LOT. Celiac is not fun.) I can't go to the doctor. :/

I don't know what kind of super-awesome health care you are getting from your job, but as a college student working a little above minimum wage my health-care really isn't poo to defend.
Lets see, I get $100 covered for prescriptions, and around &1,200 covered for hospital visits.
Put two and two together and you'll soon realize that what my job(or Cigna as its their plan) is giving me is utter garbage.
And yea, I'd like to say I represent all who are in my predicament.

I'm finding it amusing to see the amount of people that probably haven't even taken the time to read what Obama is truly proposing. Not in any of the wording does it say "free healthcare". He wants to make healthcare AFFORDABLE, not free and wants to make a self-sustainable public insurance "company" that provides affordable rates in order to create competition. Please, at least read what's going on before shoving your heads up your rears. It'll make you look less retarded.

Yes and for a whole host of reason. First and foremost because it's the morally right thing to do. Secondly because the insurance companies don't deserve it. The writing was on the wall in the 1990's and instead of changing their ways, they increased premiums up to 400% and hired lawyers to find reasons to deny claims. Those are my reasons. Nobody who's insured should go bankrupt from an illness, yet it happens everyday in our country.

@JUGGALETTEx0:
You don't understand that the money your employer pays for your health insurance is essentially a business tax, and the cost is grossly inflated. You should ask your employer how much they spend on your health care. You will be shocked, I guarantee it. If your employer paid YOU that money instead and the govt. taxed you for universal health case, I guarantee you you would end up with more money.

so madest...you would like to get rid of your health plan your employer provides you with and instead pay a bunch of taxes for a new one and for everyone else that doesn't have a job?

Baalthazaq, that $100 million came from suing doctors and nurses who had the misfortune to be present during the births of babies with cerebral palsy. There is no scientific evidence whatsoever that this malady is caused by medical malpractice, but it's a rather easy task for a smooth-talking shyster like Edwards to convince a bunch of low-IQ Oprah fans who couldn't get out of jury duty that they if they are totally confused about what is right or wrong, they should err on the side of compassion and award his client and him a PowerBall jackpot to split.

So how does it punish a doctor to make his insurance carrier pay out $multi-million jackpots? They will just increase malpractice insurance premiums for all doctors who will in turn raise their fees to the health insurance companies who will in turn raise their premiums.

Ambulance-chasing shysters like Edwards are draining $billions out of the health care system, but the Dems won't stop them because they're getting a big cut.

Like I said. You're dumb. Many working Americans don't have insurance. Like you I'm lucky to have employer provided healthcare at no cost to me. But just a bit of newspaper reading has enlightened me. You should try it sometime.

Nope, I'd rather have the good plan that my employer has given me not pay out of my taxes for something i'm already getting and to give it to other lazy people who don't feel like getting a job

JUGGALETTEx0, You dear are living proof that Juggalos are retarded. In your pea sized brain you'd rather pay exorbitant fees to insurance companies so they can claim they take care of the uninsured (a lie) and their CEO's can make $50million+ a year. You make Emo's look like Einteins.

drat that....it would be more taxes....we'd all be paying more in taxes for someone who can't get off their ass and get a job and their own medical. Also, we would lose the insurance/medical plans that employers give us.
