auburnjunky Well, if you were smoking inside the church building that would be a problem. I doubt they would kick you out if you were doing it outside; I wouldn't. Some people are too judgmental and they will, but if I met someone who smoked, I would welcome them to church because it makes them a better person.Also, if you are not Mormon, you can't sit back and tell us how crazy our religion is. Half the time your info is wrong. I recommend reading up on our doctrine if you want to make a case against us; otherwise you will sound like an ignorant fool. Some people actually made a movie called, "American Mormon," making fun of people who are ignorant to our church. You don't want to be like the people in the video that confuse Amish people with Mormons. |

I got asked to leave the church for smoking. Also for kissing my girlfriend at the time, as it was seen as lewd behavior.The president (yes the leader is called the president) told us our behavior wasn't good for the parisioners, and since her father was a deacon, I was the one who was asked to leave. We won't go into all the current beliefs that are weird, like the one where if you are pure until your death, God gives you a universe to rule over and things like that. |

I'm a Mormon and I'm going to briefly defend my church. Even I'll admit, this was actually kind of funny. I don't see why everyone sees Mormons as crazy. First of all, we do not practice polygamy. Second, the fact that we abstain from sex before marriage, drugs, coffee, alcohol, and stuff like that is a good thing. The reason we are advised not to do those things is so that our lives can be better. For instance, if we abstain from sex before marriage, we won't have to worry about being liable for a child that we do not have the intention to care for. Abstaining from drugs keeps us from being addicted; even the caffeine in coffee can be addicting. The last thing I want to say is that our church does not prevent its members from doing these things. Everyone has free agency and can indulge in sin if they want. You will not get kicked out of the Mormon church unless you commit adultery, kill somebody, or do something really bad along those lines. |

I used to be a JW... They're no worse than any other religion. I mean, I spent 18 years being miserable because I wasn't allowed to basically have any kind of a normal childhood, but, whatever. It does seem to me like they get a worse reputation because of the door to door preaching though. Considering all of the death caused "in the name of God," this seems like a silly thing to hate a religion for. The goal of their preaching is not to convert as many people as possible either, considering I never converted anyone in the 10 years I did it, and nobody seemed too upset at me. BTW, its 144,000, and these look like Mormons, not JWs. (similar but even crazier) Sorry you were offended Opie, but I'm pretty sure if God were real, and you were going to heaven, he'd give you another hand, I mean, why not? Hes gonna toss everyone wings and a harp, right? |
